Course Name: Methods of Contextual Research

Challenge

As a team, we are required to follow a process that includes secondary research, observation, interviews, a sensory cue workshop, and affinitization. With the collected data, we will identify the key elements and define the core values that shape the ideal experience. Finally, we will compile our conclusions into a well-designed magazine, making the information clear and accessible to the client while pitching an ideal experience solution.

Intention

With the topic chosen by our team, we explored the ideal experience of “Transportation for SCAD Students in Savannah.” As we organized the collected data, we defined 8 values, 4 benefits, and 1 core emotion. Through this process, we identified key aspects that contribute to the ideal experience, such as safety, sustainability, flexibility, and more. Based on these insights, we developed a 3-component solution: an app, a service, and a shuttle interior design, all working together to create a seamless experience.

Outcome

Framework

  • 8 values: Comfortable, Connected, Safe, Welcoming, Sustainable, Tech-driven, Flexible, Accurate.

  • 4 benefits: Immersed, Assured, Empowered, Informed

  • 1 core emotion: I feel Gratified

Magazine
With the framework included, we elaborated on each of the values to provide the client with a deeper understanding of what makes the experience ideal.
